Fashion is generally used to express oneself through the attire, to enhance the personality, and to gain self confidence. It helps cover up the negative aspects about your personality. One can dress traditional and yet be fashionable or dress fashionable and look traditional. Chennai is one city which is traditionally fashionable and fashionably traditional.
The ones who value tradition say “Chennai is very traditional and the people are particular about their customs and value system and strictly adhere to the age-old religious and social practices and obey them with utmost sincerity. It's their cultural legacy and they are extremely proud of it.” The ones who believe in carrying along with the trend say “From time immemorial, Chennai has always been slated as the ‘Greenland’ for fashion or more commonly, an ultra conservative city. Let it be the snow-ball trend of the so called ‘size zero’ throughout the country or keeping up with the latest vogue, Chennai has been tethered with being way behind compared to the more fashion and trend conscious metros.” Matters did not improve owing to the drought of supermodels and fashion labels present in the city” says one of the journals. A tradition that has been passed on over generations and several hundreds of years, a tradition that been valued and cared to maintain, and yet moulded and purified and modernised to the latest century. Lets preserve it.Inspite of changing styles, westernisation, change in culture gradually, increasing night life activities, fashion shows and more awareness about attire and accessories, Chennai girls do realise that their attire should be decent and not too revealing because we know our men well than anyone else do and this takes to the beginning of the write up about Chennai being more on a conservative line with fashion. I am sure everyone would accept this fact.

Stacey’s inspiration for her spring 2010 collection was “the power of the female”. She wanted to represent girls “predicating sexuality, cleverness and charm” by combining influence from all the women who influence her every day. Keeping her feminine side in mind, she set about to create a collection she describes as “playful with an edge”. The designer often credits her line as catering to every kind of woman; creating clothes that are meant to make a woman feel both sexy and sweet. After seeing the Plastiscines’ “Barcelona” video, Stacey decided that there was no better way to bring her spring collection to life than with a performance by the band. The band exudes a “candy punk vibe” that is in tune with alice + olivia’s cleverly unique style.
Chic structured dresses in pale pinks, purples and neutrals are mixed with the brand’s traditional black and white colors. Small floral prints, embellished tops and structured jackets with cut out details define the flirty and inventive collection. alice + olivia will also showcase their basics line featuring t-shirts and button-downs in soft, butter-like fabrics, linens and metallics. This season alice + olivia also unveils their latest collaboration with the jewelry line Erickson Beamon and their continued partnership with Payless, featuring fashion-forward footwear for spring.
As always, the imaginative and edgy collection will reflect Stacey’s lifestyle, as the ever busy designer continues to live bi-coastally and is mom to ten-month old daughter Eloise Breckenridge Eisner. Stacey views life and fashion as synonymous, and continues to find ways to creatively blend the two elements. With a chic spring collection brought to life by the Plasticines music, alice + olivia pushes the boundaries of art and fashion.

Sofisticacion Fashion

2010 collection was all about clothes so light they almost appeared to float down the catwalk.
One after the other, came models in wisps of pastel chiffon and silk georgette; if there had been a breeze in the stifling tent in the
Palazzo Senato they might surely have drifted away. Ferretti’s signature is her attention to hand-crafted detail and deftness of touch, so sure that even when the whisper-soft fabrics were embellished with floral embroideries, silver beading or crystals, there was never a note of heaviness.
She opened with a simple, white sleeveless, shirt-dress, worn with a crocheted ‘apron’ in grey, a look that was repeated throughout, and also suggested a country garden-party – something which was reflected in the sunhats and flat sandals.
A taupe chiffon jacket, with a tracery of roses on the sleeves was layered over an ivory, waisted dress to mid-calf; cream chiffon fashioned a shawl collar on a lemon linen fitted jacket, or else formed a swathe across the waist and hips of an ivory linen knee-length dress. Shorter, chiffon dresses with bra-bodices and flirty skirts just above the knee had a feel of the goddess. Longer dresses, in terracotta, lilac or filmy layers of taupe and pewter were as flimsy as negligees – and just as sensual.
